Bunker Hill TX History

Bunker Hill Village’s early history mirrors that of its neighbors – it was a rural community made up of farms and sawmills.

Interest in the region and the opening of the Katy Freeway during the 1950s and 1960s sparked many construction projects. This includes the upper-middle-class neighborhoods along the Buffalo Bayou.

Bunker Hill Village was incorporated in 1954 and had a mayor-council form of government. This ensured that the community kept its residential zoning and way of life.

At the time, Houston was experiencing a suburban boom and was looking to expand its borders. Bunker Hill succeeded in avoiding this annexation.

The Memorial Villages Police Department is run by Bunker Hill, Piney Point, and Hunters Creek. The city is served by the Memorial Villages Water Authority and the Villages Fire Department.

Bunker Hill Village has prospered and expanded to house more and more people since its start. The city has kept its tranquil atmosphere through its zoning laws and deed limitations.

The neighborhood has grown into an affluent community of elegant homes and luxury mansions. Bunker Hill Village was included in Forbes’ 2008 list of “Top Suburbs to Live Well.”
