The town of Angleton, formed in the late 19th century, has a long and rich history. The city began in the early 1880s. Land developer Lewis R. Bryan saw the area's potential because it's near the Brazos River. Bryan was crucial to the town's development, as were the other investors.

Named for the wife of the general manager of the Velasco Terminal Railway, Angleton began in 1890 in the center of Brazoria County. The city formally declared itself to be the county seat of Brazoria County in 1912.

Angleton's agriculture influenced the production of rice and cattle. Along with the growth of the industry and various service sectors, the city's economy also did.

Angleton has contributed to the history of Texas. The local monuments, such as historic buildings, and the location depict the city's past. The town has managed to keep certain pieces of its history.

The city has also embraced recreational and cultural activities. It holds occasions such as the Brazoria County Fair, the biggest county fair in Texas. These gatherings give residents and visitors a chance to mingle.
