Candlelight Estates TX History
Garden Oaks was designed as a garden suburb with curving avenues and a variety of housing options, from cottages to mansions, before World War II. Following the war, Oak Forest was constructed right away and grew to be Houston's biggest residential community at the time. Candlelight Estates, Shepherd Park, and other nearby communities were created between the 1950s and the 1970s. The community is becoming more and more appealing to homeowners because of its close location to Loop 610 and plenty of pine trees. Houston ISD serves this deed-restricted community.
