Cypress South TX History

Cypress is a suburban community located in northwest Harris County, Texas. It dates back to the mid-1800s when German and Swiss settlers began to arrive in the region. The community was originally named after Cypress Creek, which runs through the area.

In the early 1900s, Cypress was a small rural community with a population of less than 500. When Houston began to expand in the post-World War II era, the population of Cypress started to grow rapidly. In the 1960s and 1970s, the area experienced a population boom.
