Grand Harbor is by the southwestern shore of Lake Conroe. The lake reservoir is created in the early 1970s.
Grand Harbor's roots reach back to the early 20th century when the area was used for agriculture.
In the 1950s, Humble Oil began to buy up land on Lake Conroe including the area that would become Grand Harbor. The company had plans to build a massive lakefront resort, complete with a golf course and marina.
