Among the many subdivisions within the Memorial area, Memorial Plaza is one of the oldest. Its development was divided intothree3 parts. The first section was completed in 1955, the second in 1959, and the third was done in 1962.
The neighborhood is a part of Memorial, which initially consisted of country estates and farmlands. The area was then developed as a residential community in the 1920s and 1930s.
During the 1950s and 1960s, the Memorial area experienced a building boom. Many new homes and commercial developments were constructed. This period also saw the construction of several major roads and highways, such as the Katy Freeway.
In the 1970s and 1980s, the Memorial area underwent a period of revitalization. Many older homes, including those in Memorial Plaza, were renovated, and new commercial developments were built.
