Meridiana TX History
Meridiana is a master-planned community in Brazoria County. Rise Communities LLC was the builder of the community. Groundbreaking took place in April 2015.
Manvel, Texas, intertwines with the history of Meridiana. In the 1850s, the area that is Manvel was a prairie. The first settlers, W. R. Booth and Elizabeth arrived in 1857 and settled along the Chocolate Bayou.
After the war, more families migrated to the region. This migration led to the growth of a small settlement named Pomona. The arrival of the Gulf, Colorado, and Santa Fe Railroad connected the town to Galveston.
Due to another town called Pomona in West Houston, the settlers changed the settlement's name. They derived the new name, Manvel. This name came from Allen Manvel, the president of the Santa Fe Railroad, during that period.
Today, Meridiana attracts residents due to its amenities and location. It has won several awards, such as the Community of the Year from the Texas Association of Builders.
