Tejas Landing TX History
Since Tejas Landing is relatively new, it doesn't have a long and extensive history yet. However, it is located in Fort Bend County. The county has a rich history that dates back to the early 1800s.
In 1822, Stephen F. Austin, often called the "Father of Texas," was authorized to bring Anglo-American settlers to Texas. William Travis led a group that year to construct a fort along the Brazos River's bend. This set the groundwork for the namesake of Fort Bend County and the future city of Richmond. Fort Bend County was officially formed in 1837 from parts of Austin, Harris, and Brazoria Counties.
By the late 1800s, rice became an important crop, especially along the coastal prairies, changing the local economy.
In the early 1900s, the discovery of oil brought new jobs and more people to Fort Bend County. The county grew with the oil and gas industry. It also became known for its rich cultural heritage, with many historic sites and landmarks still preserved today. In the latter half of the 1900s, the county grew quickly as a suburb. This attracted families and businesses seeking good schools and a growing community.
Today, Fort Bend County is among the quickest-growing counties in the United States. It's known for its diverse population, strong economy, and good quality of life. The county celebrates its rich history with museums, historic sites, and community events.
