Winfield Gate broke ground in 2011 and finished construction in the winter of 2015.

In 1923, Will Hogg, Mike Hogg, and Hugh Potter purchased 200 acres of land around the River Oaks Country Club. Hare and Hare provided the new neighborhood's master plan.
In 1927, the City of Houston annexed the community.
