• Lawrence E Elkins High School at 7007 Knights Ct. Established in 1992, Elkins High is the 6th high school in Fort Bend ISD. Named in honor of Lawrence E. Elkins, the school commemorates his legacy as a former teacher, coach, administrator, and superintendent in FBISD.

Riverstone TX History

Samuel M. Williams and his brother Nathaniel settled on "Oakland Plantation" then. Its name is after the many oaks that grow on the property. Williams' plantation had corn, cotton, and sugarcane.

In 1853, Colonel E. H. Cunningham bought the 12,500-acre plantation. He built a sugar refining plant and a town on it.

In 1908, the partners purchased the Cunningham Plantation. The sale included a sugar mill and refinery. It resulted in the rise of the Imperial Sugar Company and the town that grew around it. Presently, the area is called Sugar Land.

The form of government has since shifted to council-manager. Several master-planned communities have developed.

Sugar Land South is still thriving today. It now serves as the location of several corporate headquarters and master-planned communities, including Riverstone.
