Royal Oaks homes are within the Alief Independent School District (AISD).

Students may choose to apply to Kerr, AISD's magnet high school, but placement for high school within the district is lottery-determined.

• Frostwood Elementary School at 12214 MEMORIAL DR. Originally opened its doors in 1960 and was renovated in 2014. This top-rated institution supports its "state-of-the-art teaching" in molding future leaders.

• Memorial Drive Elementary School at 11202 Smithdale Rd. Memorial Drive is the second oldest school in the district, built-in 1949. The Pre- K through grade 5 years include special education, at-risk, gifted/talented, and minority students.

Middle Schools

• Budewig Intermediate School at 12570 Richmond Ave. Budewig offers several electives (Art, Choir, Orchestra, Health-Tech, and Drama) and clubs (Sports, Dance Fusion, BDN, and others).

• O’Donnell Middle School at 14041 Alief Clodine Rd. O’Donnell is a public-co-ed school that serves students in grades 7 to 8.

High Schools

• Elsik High School at 12601 High Star Dr. Elsik first opened its doors in 1975, next to Hastings High School, its "sister school." The school has one of the best debate teams in the state and provides dual credit for English, Government, and Economics.

• Hastings High School at 4410 Cook Rd. Hastings College, founded in 1972, has two campuses. The main campus and Ninth Grade Center are at 6750 Cood Road.

• Taylor High School, located at 7555 Howell Sugar Land Dr. Taylor High School, opened in 2001 to relieve overcrowding in Elsik and Hastings. The relatively new school has made a name for itself through its excellent athletic programs (Football, Tennis, Swimming, and Diving).

Royal Oaks TX History

The Royal Oaks area was previously the Andrau Airpark. The airpark had closed in 1998, and Las Vegas-based developer Sunrise Colony Co. purchased the 500-acre property.

The development of the golf course community started in 2000. It was the first country club to be built within Houston city limits in 50 years.

Upon completion, Royal Oaks is set to feature 900 single-family homes. Several luxury builders offer homes in the community. These include Charles Martin Custom Homes, Daybreak Custom, Fairmost, and McVaugh Custom Homes.

Today, around 850 homes have been completed. The community has a very active homeowners association and is one of the best-gated communities in Houston.

Fun Things To Do Near Royal Oaks Houston

The Royal Oaks residents are minutes away from retail and entertainment centers. Thanks to the neighborhood’s relatively central location in west Houston. Centers include Westchase Shopping Center, West Oaks Mall, and Hong Kong City Mall, among others.

Royal Oaks Village is within walking distance from Royal Oaks homes. While other retail centers in the area (the Galleria, Memorial City Mall, and the CityCentre) are a short drive away.

For other entertainment options, residents don’t have to go very far.

Royal Oaks Country Club is a private country club that features a 7,000-yard Fred Couples Signature golf course. The par 72 18-hole course features 9 lakes, waterfalls, and other beautiful water features.
