Spring Shadows started as a largely rural area. Logging was the primary industry in the wooded areas until German farmers settled.
Initially, development in the area started in earnest. There was high demand during Houston's housing boom.
Houston's real estate market continued to prosper during the completion of Interstate 10. Likewise, this drew a demand for homes in Spring Shadows.
