Sugar Land North is one of the four sections of Sugar Land City.
Sugar Land, Texas, is the largest city in Fort Bend County, located in the southeastern part of the state. The area's history can goes back to the early 19th century.
The name "Sugar Land" itself reflects the area's historical connection to the sugar industry. In the 19th century, the land was used for sugar cane plantations. The Sugar Land area has fertile soil and a favorable climate. The land's proximity to the Brazos River also made it ideal for sugar cultivation.
In 1838, Samuel M. Williams purchased a large tract of land that encompassed the present-day Sugar Land area. Over time, several plantations and communities were established in the region.
A railroad system was developed in the late 19th century which further facilitated the growth of Sugar Land. In the mid-20th century, with advancements in transportation and industry, Sugar Land began to diversify its economy. Sugar Land became a city in 1959.
