Alvin North TX History
The neighborhood emerged in the 1800s with settlers from the Czech Republic and Germany. The settlers established a farming community and named the area “Morgan” after Alvin Morgan, one of the area’s original settlers.
Early growth and development in Alvin were due to the arrival of the Santa Fe Railroad in the 1800s. The railroad connection brought increased economic opportunities and accessibility to the area.
In 1893, the town's name was changed from "Morgan" to "Alvin" in honor of Alvin Morgan, the Santa Fe Railroad's property agent. The old name remained, and Alvin became the official name of the town.
